We are excited to announce that our Impact Investing Network team has grown!
Jamie Wood has come onboard as our Community and Digital Advisor - assisting on a part-time basis with everything you see and experience: our website, LinkedIn page, newsletters, events, and sector building initiatives.
Jamie grew up in the heart of the South Island, learning to ski at the age of 3, and surrounded by the beautiful landscapes of Queenstown. Following her International Business, Accounting and Mandarin studies at the University of Otago, Jamie travelled to India, Europe, and settled in China to work for a Kiwi start-up before COVID brought her back home.
Jamie has worked for a range of organisations - from PwC and Goldman Sachs, to Crimson Education in Shanghai, and now Hobson Wealth as an Investment Adviser.
It is her current job where she was introduced to the concept of investing for reasons other than solely a financial return. "Over the last few years I've realised the power of an individual's investment decisions and the impact that can have on the world's biggest issues. I work with people who are interested in providing capital to tackle big and interesting challenges that can provide a social or environmental return as well as a financial one. I've always been interested in how companies can impact the world's biggest problems, but private wealth management has shown me that each of us can have a part to play - not just larger organisations."
With a desire to deepen her knowledge in the realm of impact and ESG investing, Jamie completed the CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing and has since been proactively engaging with professionals in the field. It was through these efforts that she discovered the Impact Investing Network (IIN). "Given the rapid emergence of new sustainability policies, frameworks and players, it can be overwhelming to navigate this sector. However, IIN simplifies the process by making impact investing more approachable and by fostering connections between individuals and organisations in the ecosystem. I'm excited to be a part of it."
Jamie will be working closely with Tan Huynh, IIN Manager, and Duke Euphrat, IIN Sector and Project Advisor.
"We're delighted to welcome Jamie's energy and expertise in our team. As well as Jamie's investment background, what consistently impressed us was Jamie's clear intention to make a positive difference in the world through her many professional and personal projects".
