Impact Investing Network is thrilled to welcome Pearl to the team as our new Community Advisor!
Pearl Philavong joins us with an impressive background rooted in supporting startups and fostering innovation across various roles. With experience at Young Enterprise Trust as a Facilitator and Operations Coordinator, and at Creative HQ as an Innovation Specialist and Programme Manager, Pearl has helped founders develop and grow their entrepreneurial capability. Through these roles, she has run accelerator and incubator programmes for startups and facilitated innovation capability courses, empowering emerging entrepreneurs to thrive in the startup ecosystem.
In addition to her work with startups, Pearl currently serves as the Community Manager for Angel HQ, Wellington’s angel investing network. In this role, she’s gained valuable insights into the world of angel investing, understanding that successful investing goes beyond financial contributions. “In angel investing, it’s about more than just providing capital; it’s about sharing expertise, offering guidance, and mentoring founders,” Pearl explains. “What excites me about impact investing is that it follows a similar approach — it’s not just financial. It’s about putting your money where your values are and making a real difference.”
A graduate of Victoria University of Wellington with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, majoring in Management and International Business, Pearl is eager to join Impact Investing Network and foster a community dedicated to impact-led investments. “The work that IIN does to educate, spotlight, and enable impact-led investments is incredible. It not only benefits individual investors but also drives meaningful change within the investing community, helping to fuel long-term positive impact.”
Currently, she’s travelling across Europe, working remotely as she explores new places, meets new people, and indulges in the local cuisines — all while keeping an eye out for the perfect place to call home. Though on the move, she remains deeply committed to contributing to the startup ecosystem in Aotearoa and supporting innovation wherever she goes.
Tan Huynh, our IIN Manager is glad to have Pearl join the team. "We're excited to have Pearl's experience and expertise added to our Impact Investing Network team. As well as Pearl's clear commitment to supporting innovative organisations to be investment ready, we value Pearl's intent to make a positive difference in Aotearoa and the world".
